Secondary Education
Students majoring in secondary education gain the expertise to teach at the high school (9-12) level in a variety of major subject areas. Students will learn methods of teaching, complete observations, prepare a professional portfolio demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities, plus be prepared to teach in a specific area of concentration.
Areas of Concentration
It is important for a secondary education major to pick a major early into his or her academic career to be able to meet both the education requirements and the area of concentration requirements. Areas of certification are listed below:

Other Requirements
To receive teacher certification, students must achieve a minimum G.P.A. of 2.500 overall in their area of concentration. A 'C' or better is required in all professional education courses.
Secondary education majors are required to student teach secondary education students during a semester (typically during the spring semester of the education major's senior year).
