Mission Statement

The Culver-Stockton College Athletic Training Education Program shall integrate the liberal arts into a high quality education that will prepare students for certification in athletic training and allow them to become respected professionals in the field. In addition, the Athletic Training Department shall provide athletic training services of the highest quality possible to those participating in the intercollegiate athletic programs at the college.

Goals and Objectives

  • We will promote personal and professional development by combining the liberal arts with a sound athletic training education program.
  • We will prepare athletic training students to successfully challenge the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification, Inc. (NATABOC) examination.
  • We will provide students with an appropriate variety of both didactic and clinical experiences in various athletic training settings and ensure that the Athletic Training Educational Competencies set forth by the National Athletics Trainers' Association (NATA) Education Council have been addressed during the student's experience.
  • We will promote high standards of health care delivery and personal conduct by familiarizing students with the NATA Code of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics.
  • We will educate students on how to stay current in athletic training and on NATABOC standards for continuing education.
  • We will have students understand the statutes and regulations on professional credentialing for athletic trainers.
  • We will conduct ongoing evaluation of the program, facilities and staff in order to ensure that the highest quality education is being delivered to the athletic training student and that the best possible care is rendered to the student athlete.
