Study Abroad

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow mindedness …"
-- Mark Twain

At Culver-Stockton College we believe in bringing you to the world and bringing the world to you. Our Study Abroad program not only offers traditional individual student experiences in other countries, we also offer a way for students to travel with their friends and teachers for a short-term immersion in another culture. To expose more students to other cultures of the world, we require student participation in our innovative Academic and Cultural Events program. We fill our stages and venues with performing groups and lectures that help develop an appreciation for other ways of thinking and other ways of living.

Helpful information about traveling abroad can be found in the
C-SC Study Abroad Program Handbook (hyperlink to webpage) and at the U.S. State Department website.

Unlike many Study Abroad programs that only offer opportunities for the student to study alone in a foreign country for a semester or a summer, Culver-Stockton College offers unique three-week study abroad courses through which students travel with Culver-Stockton faculty and other students to be immersed in specific cultural and educational opportunities. Three-week trips have included trips to China, Greece and Prague. Future trips will go to Istanbul, London and the Netherlands.

Each semester, Culver-Stockton College offers study-abroad courses, through which students and faculty to travel together and immerse themselves in another culture. This important component of the new, innovative exp@csc curriculum is one of the students' options for experiential coursework during the three-week short-term each semester. Each experience is offered for three hours of academic credit.

Some C-SC students choose to spend an entire semester studying at a college or university abroad. These programs are offered in partnership with other organizations, such as the Missouri-London Consortium and the Central College Study Abroad Program.

Through the consortium, C-SC students can study in London and receive academic credit at Culver-Stockton, making normal progress toward their undergraduate degrees while experiencing another culture. Central College in Pella, Iowa, offers programs to C-SC students in such locations as Wales, Spain, Austria, France, China, England, the Yucatan, and the Netherlands.

Summer study-abroad programs also are available often in partnership with the Missouri-London Consortium or Central College, Pella, Iowa. Students may submit other study-abroad programs to Culver-Stockton, which will work with the sponsoring organization to have academic credits transferred.
