My Study Abroad Experience

Traveling to Central Europe is one of the most amazing things I have done in my life, so far. There is so much culture and history that you can’t help but be mesmerized by the experience. One of the best things about the trip was the freedom that we experienced. Being able to go out at night and walk the streets, eat in the local restaurants and celebrate New Year’s Eve with everyone, local and other visitors, were some of the experiences that taught us the most. One of the nights I will never forget was when we went to see Romeo and Juliet, the musical, at the National Theater in Budapest. It was just something that we planned to do on our own, mostly on a whim, but turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of the whole trip!  I also remember touring the many castles that had belonged to the Hapsburg family. It is amazing to be able to see the inside of a castle that belongs to royalty; to see their belongings and how they decorated, dressed and lived their every day lives. I learned a lot while traveling to Central Europe. I learned history, some politics and some language to further my education, but mostly I gained personal experience, cultural and an appreciation for everything different from the American way of life. This trip is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
