This study abroad experience will be led by Andy Walsh and Mohamed El-Bermawy. Students will focus on Egypt both as an extraordinary ecological and cultural site.
Spring 2010 - Netherlands, Art and Political Science

Led by David Fistein and Robert Kennon - Netherlandish Culture and European Identity in Spring 2010 will focus on the Netherlands and Belgium and their cultures in relation to maritime trade and the strategic shipping centers leading to the European common market system. The course will cover the history of the Golden Age of the 17th Century Dutch society and its impact on the development of the European Union in the 1950’s. The art, architecture, religion, politics, economics, and cosmopolitan lifestyle of the people will be discussed in relation to their independence from Spanish, French, and German rule through their neutrality in World War I and German occupation during World War II. This course also includes visits to Amsterdam and Brussels.
Fall 2010, Belize and Guatemala, Biology

Led by Lauren Schellenberger - Students traveling to Belize and Guatemala in December 2010 will explore Central America from rainforests to ruins to reefs. The course focuses on tropical ecology, but students will have ample time and opportunity to appreciate the history and culture of the region. The trip will include several nights at a rainforest lodge, exploration of the tropical rainforest, a visit to the ruins of Tikal, and a study of marine biology along the coast of Belize, on an island adjacent to the world’s second largest barrier reef.
Spring 2011, Russia and Northern Europe, Fine Arts
(3 credit hours)Led by Tom Polett - The study abroad trip to Russia, Estonia, and Finland in Spring 2011 will focus on the various forms of artistic expression that helped shape national identity – from literature, to ballet, to music and art.
Spring 2011, The Capitals of Europe, Business
(3 credit hours)
Led by Kimberly Gaither - The focus of this course is on doing business in the European market during the Spring 2011 trip to London, Paris, and Rome. Students will visit businesses in all three cities, as well as attend a lecture at a university in London, as they discover the past, present, and future of European business, its differences from the United States, and its opportunities.
