What is Culver-Stockton College?

Culver-Stockton College is a comprehensive college of about 850 students, with a rich liberal arts heritage and an innovative curriculum geared to the needs of modern students. This private, residential college, founded in 1853, is located on a bluff overlooking Canton, Mo., and the Mississippi River.

How is does the 12/3 calendar work?

Our curriculum divides the typical 15-week semester into two terms, a 12-week term and a 3-week term. During the 12-week term, students take three to four courses. During the 3-week term, most students focus on only one course. Students can also utilize the 12/3 calendar to take part in internships, clinical training and courses that include travel domestically and internationally.

What is the average class size?

The average class size is 16 with an average faculty/student ratio of 1:13.

What can I study?

We offer a wide variety of majors, minors, specializations and certifications in business, education, fine arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics. In addition, a highlight of our unique curriculum will be interdisciplinary majors and the ability to design your own major.

What if I don’t know my major yet?

No problem. We have designed the Guided Pursuit for Success (GPS) program specifically for undecided students to help you explore your own talents, interests and values to decide what you want to do and which academic program will help you get there. Our GPS program combines with our first-year experience course to help students make a smoother transition to a successful college experience. We also offer design-your-own majors to ensure you can meet your career goals.

Is Culver-Stockton accredited?

Does the college offer an honors program?

Through our Honors Program, we provide opportunities for highly motivated students that combine original research, intensive writing and creative expression. Everyone can take honors classes, but only those students who complete all the program requirements are designated as a college Honors Scholar at commencement.

What is campus life like?

We are a residential campus with most of our students living in residence halls or Greek houses. We have a broad variety of campus organizations. Do you have Greek Life?

We have four national fraternities – Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Upsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Tau Kappa Epsilon – as well as three national sororities – Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa, and Sigma Sigma Sigma. What athletic teams do you have?

We are affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). Our athletic teams compete in baseball, basketball (M/W), bowling (M/W), cross country (M/W), football, golf (M/W), soccer (M/W), softball, spirit squad (co-ed cheerleaders and dance team), track and field (M/W), and volleyball (M/W). What is your placement record after commencement?

We have an excellent placement record. On average over five years, 96 percent of graduates were employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of commencement. Several majors have even higher placement records.
