Culver-Stockton College softball player Melissa Goehl and baseball player Lucas Cramsey have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII team (college division) in their respective sports as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The college division of District VII is comprised of non-Division I schools in Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado and Montana

Goehl, a senior double major in English and history education from Quincy, Ill. (Quincy HS), was one of three outfielders named on the 11-member second team from District VII. She was a first-team selection in 2007.

A right-fielder, Goehl started all 46 games for the Wildcats, compiling a .260 batting average, scoring 22 runs and collecting 34 hits this season. In addition, she was second on the team with 22 stolen bases and eight sacrifice bunts.

In the classroom, Goehl was named to the President’s List (4.0 GPA) after all eight semesters at Culver-Stockton. She was named the Outstanding History major in 2008 and was also the Phi Eta Sigma Book Award winner. She was named a NAIA scholar-athlete in 2007 (2008 NAIA honors will be released at later date) and a NAIA Region V scholar-athlete in 2007 and 2008.

Cramsey, a junior finance major from Quincy, Ill. (Notre Dame HS), was also named to the all-district second team. A first baseman, Cramsey started all 46 games for the Wildcats this spring. He batted .374 with nine doubles, four triples and 31 RBI. In addition, he collected a team-high 52 hits, scored 25 runs and pilfered 15 bases.

In the classroom, Cramsey was recognized as a NAIA Region V scholar-athlete in 2008 and is nominated for the NAIA scholar-athlete award, which will be released later this month.

Culver-Stockton, located in Canton, Mo., is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and is a member of the 11-team Heart of America Athletic Conference consisting of schools in Missouri, Kansas and Iowa.
