Men's Cross Country - Facts

  • Consultant: Greg Hull, Phoenix, Ariz., representing MF-Athletics, Facility Consulting Division. He was a college pole vaulter (Arizona State University), coach of both 2000 Sydney Olympics pole vault gold-medal winners Nick Hysong and Stacy Dragila, operates "Kiss the Sky" pole vault camp, faculty member U.S. Pole Vault Summit.

  • Approximate cost of resurfacing, equipment purchases, construction of equipment storage Facility, and endowment for maintenance, and first-year team building: $719,000
  • First season: Fall 2007 (cross country); Winter 2007 (indoor track); Spring 2008 (track and field)
  • Virtually every high school within a 100-mile radius of Canton has track and field and cross country programs.
  • The track and field teams of Canton R-5 School District, which does not have a home track, also will use Culver-Stockton facilities.
  • The programs may revive the regional relays, which formerly brought 15 high school teams to campus to compete.
  • With establishment of the Culver-Stockton program, only one college in the Heart of America Athletic Conference will not have track and field and cross country programs.
  • The programs give other Culver-Stockton athletes the option to participate in complementary athletic programs, which has not been possible before.
  • Other Culver-Stockton athletes can use the track for interval and fitness training.
  • Other students, faculty, staff and local residents will use the track for recreational purposes.
