The Wildcat golf team has always enjoyed moderate success on the links, but since the turn of the century, the golf program has taken the next step, winning one conference title and qualifying for the regional tournament eight times. In addition, the Wildcats have had two individual medalists in conference competition and produced two scholar-athletes. For more information on the men's golf program, contact Ben Craig

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College junior golfer Jacob Newton has been named a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Newton, an accounting and finance major from Burnside, Ill. (Nauvoo-Colusa HS), is the 128th Wildcat student-athlete to be named a NAIA scholar-athlete, and just the second golfer, joining Jacob Scholz in 2003 and 2004.
Newton placed 37th in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships on April 26-27 in Boonville, Mo. He carded a 36-over 249 for 54 holes in the tournament, but did post a 73 during the second round, which was the second lowest score of that round.
The NAIA announced that 91 men's golf players have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
