The Culver-Stockton College baseball team completed a four-game series with Lindenwood University by splitting a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Nichols Field.
The Wildcats captured the opener 5-4 on a walk-off single by Chris Rinaudo. The Lions answered in the nightcap as Lion hurler Jon Story limited C-SC to three hits in a 7-1 loss.
In the opener, the game was tied 4-4 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning when Jonathan Maestas reached with a one-out pinch-hit.
Kurt Kessler re-entered the game to run and moved to second on a base hit by Ryan Lamson.
Zach Miles, pinch-hitting for Raul Corrales struck out looking for the second out; however, Rinaudo ripped a two-strike pitch to right-center to score Kessler and give the Wildcats the victory.
C-SC scored two times in the opening inning on a two-run single by Kevin Steinhardt.
After Lindenwood took a 4-2 lead in the second inning, the Wildcats tied it in the third inning with a RBI groundout by Steinhardt and a RBI single by Jaime Munoz.
Kyle Nash went 6 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out seven. Austin Bishop pitched two-thirds of an inning to record his second victory of the season.
Steinhardt finished with three RBI's while Munoz was the only Wildcat to record multiple hits, finishing with two.
In the nightcap, Lindenwood jumped on C-SC starter Brad Simmons for four first inning runs and never looked back in recording the victory.
The Wildcats scored their only run in the second inning on a two-out single by Munoz and a RBI double by Raul Landeros.
C-SC, now 18-7 overall and 10-6 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, will host Central Methodist University in a four-game series next weekend, April 5-6, at Nichols Field. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
