CMU nips Softball 'Cats in DH sweep

The Culver-Stockton softball team dropped two closely contested games at Central Methodist University on Sunday afternoon in Fayette, Mo.
In the opener, Danielle Taylor's walk-off home run off Sara Eggleston to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Eagles a 1-0 extra-inning victory.
CMU scored five unanswered runs after trailing 1-0 in the second game and went on to post a 5-2 victory to complete the sweep.
For C-SC, the Wildcats managed only three hits in the opening game. Cassie Fischer, Melissa Goehl and Danielle Kaltmayer recorded the hits for the visitors.
Eggleston went the distance, scattering four hits and striking out five, but dropped to 5-7 on the season.
In the nightcap, C-SC banged out 13 hits, but could only manage single runs in the first and seventh innings.
Kaltmayer recorded three hits in four at-bats to lead the offense. Fischer, Goehl, Jessica Webb and Jackie Clark all recorded two hits each. Clark and Carley Thurston recorded the RBI's.
C-SC is now 11-16 overall and 3-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Wildcats are scheduled to host William Jewell College in a HAAC twinbill on Tuesday, April 8. Game time is 3 p.m.
