Wildcats slug way past Graceland

The Culver-Stockton College softball team pounded out 33 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Graceland University Monday night in Lamoni, Iowa.

The Wildcats recorded 17 hits in a 13-7 victory in game one before garnering 16 hits in an 11-9 triumph in game two.

Cassie Fischer led the game one onslaught, going 5-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and three RBI. Katelin Goddard was 3-for-5 with a RBI, while Jackie Clark and Carley Thurston each had two hits and three RBI.

In game two, Danielle Kaltmayer hit two home runs and had three RBI to lead the charge. Goddard was 3-for-5 and two RBI, while Clark was 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Katie Thomas picked up both victories in relief to run her record to 8-5 on the season.

C-SC, which finishes the regular season with a 21-22 overall record and a 12-8 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, will play in the HAAC Tournament this weekend, May 2-3, in Springfield, Mo. Game times will be announced later in the week.
