Bio:
Caren Kemner will enter her first season as the head coach of the Culver-Stockton College women’s volleyball team.

Coach Kemner spent 15 years as a member of the United States National Team, which included three Olympics and an Olympic Bronze Medal. Once considered the best volleyball player in the world, Coach Kemner played in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, before spending two years playing in the Italian Professional League, Telcom-Milan. In her return to the National Team in 1990, she helped her team win a bronze medal at the World Championships. In 1991, she was named the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) most valuable player (MVP), and was the most outstanding player at the 1991 World Cup. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Coach Kemner helped Team USA win a bronze medal by compiling team-high 127 kills and seven aces. In 1993, she spent two years playing for Brazilian team Atletico Sorocaba before playing professionally in Japan for two years (1994-1995). In 1995, Coach Kemner helped her team win Gold at the World Grand Prix, before playing in her last Olympics in Atlanta in 1996.

Coach Kemner’s pervious coaching experience includes serving as the head coach at her alma mater Quincy Notre Dame High School for two seasons. She led the team to a 43-27 record including a 24-10 campaign and regional championship in 2010. Coach Kemner is also the director of the Riverfront Athletic Association.

Coach Kemner is a native from Quincy, Illinois. She is a six-time recipient of the United States Olympic Committee Female Volleyball Athlete of the Year and a five-time winner of Team USA MVP award. She was also nominated for the Sullivan Award, which is the top amateur athlete in the United States. In addition to her National Team achievements, she helped her high school Quincy Notre Dame win two consecutive state titles. She played two season at the University of Arizona where she was named to the All-American team and the Pac-10 All-Conference team her sophomore season. She is a member of the University of Arizona and Quincy Notre Dame Athletic Halls of Fame.

Bio:
Shayla Chalker will enter her second season as the assistant coach of the Culver-Stockton women’s volleyball team. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia Coach Chalker has spent time playing on the Australian National Team. In 2000, Coach Chalker was asked to train with the Australian National Team that went on to compete in the 2000 Olympics. In 2001, she made her National Team Debut, at the Asian Championships helping Australia to a 6th place finish. In 2002 at the World Championships, she complied 72 kills and 16 blocks helping Australia to their highest world ranking 16th. In 2004, Coach Chalker competed at the Asian Championships, leading the team to a 5th place finish.

Coach Chalker’s previous coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach for Quincy University, and working with various junior club teams, most recently the Riverfront Bruisers in Quincy, Illinois.

Coach Chalker is a native of Melbourne, Australia. In addition to her National Team achievements, she played six years for her Victorian State Team, winning three consecutive National Championships and was a five-time recipient of the All-Star Six award and a two-time Honorary Australian. Coach Chalker played 4 seasons with the club team Melbourne Falcons, winning three consecutive National Championships. After turning down Division I scholarships, Coach Chalker graduated from Division III Coe College in 2009, with a degree in Physical Education. She was a two-time All-American, four-time First-Team All-Conference and four-time All-Region. Coach Chalker is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Emporia State University.
