Bio:
Rich Meyer begins his second season as head coach of the Lady Wildcat volleyball program. He was hired on Feb. 22, 2006.
In his first season on the Hill, Meyer guided the Lady Wildcats to an 8-27 overall record and directed the Lady Wildcats to a 4-6 mark in league play, finishing seventh.
Meyer, who retired from teaching at Central in 2004, compiled a 607-277 overall record in 26 years as head coach at Central and Barry (Ill.) High Schools. At Central, he captured 11 West Central Conference championships, eight regional titles and advanced to the state tournament in 1987 and 1992. He was named Quincy Herald-Whig Coach of the Year in 1992 and 2002.
In addition to his high school success, Meyer also guided six junior high teams to the state tournament, winning the 2003 and 2004 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) 8AA state championships. He also coached softball for 25 years and recorded a 346-261 overall record, won eight conference titles and one regional championship.
Meyer has worked at Elite Volleyball Camps at the University of Louisville and the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
Meyer aquired a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Quincy University in 1973. In 1993, Meyer earned a Master of Arts degree in history from Western Illinois University.
Bio:
Bridgett begins her first season as an assistant with the Wildcat volleyball program.
Bridgett played for the Wildcats from 2003-06. She was a four-year letterwinner, playing in 273 career games.
Playing mostly as a defensive specialist, Bridgett recorded 619 career digs, including a career-high 352 digs her senior season when she averaged 2.71 digs per game.
In addition, Bridgett holds the Wildcat single-season record for service percentage at 97.7 percent (543-556), settijng that mark in 2006. She also had 46 career service aces, including 27 aces her senior season.
Bridgett graduated from Culver-Stockton with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She currently resides in Canton and is employed as a teacher in the Canton R-V school district.
