Seth Minter begins his first year as head coach of the Lady Wildcat Basketball program in 2010-11.

Minter, a 2006 graduate of Culver-Stockton, spent the last three years as the head girls coach at Canton High School, which included two trips to the Missouri Class 2 Girls State Basketball Tournament where they finished second in 2009 and fourth in 2010. He compiled a 77-13 overall record at Canton, an .856 winning percentage that is the best in the program’s history, and his teams were ranked in the Missouri Coaches Top 10 poll each year, achieving the top ranking in the state during the 2008-09 season.

During his tenure at Canton, Minter oversaw a program that set school records for victories in a season (29) in 2008-09, points per game (67.4), points allowed (38.6), assists per game (17.3) and field goal percentage (54%).

Minter coached six all-state players, eight all-district selections, four 1,000-point scorers, one 2,000-point scorer, and one 1,000-rebounder. He twice was named District Coach of the Year, and was runner-up for the Robert Fairchild Coach of the Year in the State of Missouri in 2009. He was also named KHQA TV 7 and KRES radio Coach of the Year in 2009.

Minter graduated from Culver-Stockton in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education/health, and he is candidate for a master’s degree in education from William Woods University in 2010.

While a student at C-SC, Minter was a four-year letterwinner on the baseball team where he holds the school record for strikeouts in a career with 201. He is second all-time in victories with 20, and he is third all-time with 226.1 innings pitched. He was named to the all-conference team twice, including a first-team selection in 2005, and was an All-Region V selection in 2005.

Meleia Niemann is back as an assistant coach at Culver-Stockton after a 17-year hiatus. A 1982 C-SC graduate, Niemann was a pioneer in the women’s athletic programs at Culver-Stockton.
Niemann was a four-year letterwinner in both basketball and softball for the Lady Wildcats during the infancy of both programs.

During her basketball career, Niemann was the first member of the 1,000-point club, finishing with 1,177 career points. As a freshman , Niemann tied the school record for points in a game with 30 against MacMurray College. The next season, she broke the record with a 40-point outburst against Quincy College, a record that still stands today. In addition, she led the nation in free throw percentage her senior season. She is a member of the C-SC Athletic Hall of Fame.

Niemann’s other accomplishments while at C-SC include being named an Academic All-American in 1982, a Missouri Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women All-State player in 1981, and team captain in both basketball and softball. After graduating, Niemann assisted the women’s basketball program for five seasons (1982-86 and 1992-93), and the Lady Wildcats won the HAAC title four of those five years.

Niemann resides in Canton with her husband, Tom, and their two children, Tori and Tyler.
