Katie MacBride scored one goal and added two assists to lift the Culver-Stockton women's soccer team to a season-opening 3-2 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Wildcats, who scored six combined goals in two scrimmages earlier this week, started quickly as they raced to a 2-0 lead.

Freshman Jordan Sergi netted her first goal of her collegiate career with a head ball off a MacBride corner kick to give Culver-Stockton a 1-0 advantage.

The Lady Wildcats made it 2-0 when Kaylie Erickson settled a through ball from MacBride, deeked the Crimson goalie and netted her first goal as a Lady Wildcat.

St. Joseph didn't quit as the Crimson took advantage of some sloppy play by the Lady Wildcats to tie the game; however, MacBride saved the day with her first goal of the season, beating the goalkeeper on a re-start from 20 yards out.

The Lady Wildcats will host the Bill Schneider Invitational this weekend at Ayers Field. C-SC will play MacMurray College (Ill.) on Saturday, Sept. 4, and Mount Marty College (S.D.) on Sept. 5. Both games are slated to begin at 4 p.m.
