The baseball program has had more than a decade of success that has included six Heart of America Athletic Conference championships, four regional championships and two NAIA World Series appearances, including a third-place finish in 1999. Since 1996, the Wildcat diamond nine have been rewarded with 31 all-conference first team selections, two HAAC player of the year honors, two HAAC pitcher of the yearhonors and one region pitcher of the year honor. Eleven Wildcats have continued their careers in professional baseball during that span, including three who were taken in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. In addition, the Wildcat baseball program has produced eight NAIA Interested in Athletics?Scholar-Athletes since 1996 and 10 overall. Wildcats place two on All-HAAC team

Culver-Stockton College placed two players on the 2012 Heart of America Athletic Conference all-conference baseball team, the league announced Friday afternoon.

Senior third baseman Michael Pena and senior first baseman Thomas Dixon were honored for their play during the season. Pena earned first team honors this year after being a second team selection in 2011. Dixon was named as an honorable mention selection.

Pena, of Fall River Mills, Calif. (Foothill HS / Butte College), was honored after batting .281 with five doubles and 15 runs batted in. He was third on the team with 43 hits and second on team with 36 runs scored. Pena led the team with 22 walks and hit by a pitch a team-high 17 times. He finished the season by reaching base in 14 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Dixon, of Sacramento, Calif. (John F. Kennedy HS / Sacramento City College), won the team triple crown with a .387 batting average, three home runs and 40 runs batted in. He collected 58 hits and scored 22 runs while slugging at a .533 clip. In addition, Dixon played well defensively, committing just two errors on 297 chances for a .993 fielding percentage.

The Wildcats completed the 2012 season with a 16-31-1 overall and record and finished fourth in the HAAC's Eastern Division with a 9-16-1 league mark.
