Track and field competes at Green Classic
Saturday, February 04, 2012
The Culver-Stockton College track and field team competed in the Dr. Jim Green Classic Track and Field Invitational at Illinois College in Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon.
Blake Jackson continued a solid indoor season with a fifth place finish in the 60-meter dash. Jackson covered the distance in a time of 7.10 seconds, which is the sixth-best time in school history.
Also earning points for the men on Saturday was Logan Holmer in the high jump. Holmer placed fifth overall with a jump of 5 feet, 10 three-quarter inches. That mark is the sixth-highest mark in school history.
In women's action, Julissa Watt turned in another fine performace despite nursing a hamstring injury. Watt finished seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.18 seconds. That time is the sixth-best in school history.
Both teams will be in action one more time before the conference meet on Feb. 17-18. They will compete in the Knox Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 11, in Galesburg, Ill. The meet is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
