Less than 15 years old, the women's golf program is progressing nicely in its attempt to make a name for itself on the conference and regional landscape. With a strong recruiting push the last several years, the Lady Wildcat golf linksters should find success as they try to lay a solid foundation forthe future of the program. Miehe turns in best day of tournament
Thursday, May 17, 2012

Even though Culver-Stockton College freshman Megan Miehe turned in her best round of the 2012 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships Thursday afternoon, it could have been better.

After shooting 90 and 91 the first two days, Miehe carded a 16-over 89 to move up three spots to 129th place during the third round at Link Hills Country Club in Greenville, Tenn. Her three day score of 51-over 270 was not good enough to make the cut, which takes place after 54 holes.

Starting at the 10th hole for the second time in the tournament, Miehe, who opened the day tied for 132nd place, recorded par at the first five holes of the back nine before consecutive bogeys at 15 and 16 stained her scorecard.

She responded with a par at 17, but another bogey at 18 (her ninth hole) gave her a 3-over 39 after nine holes, by far her best start of the tournament.

Miehe made the turn with another par at the first hole, but then the wheels fell off as she recorded bogey or worse over the final eight holes to finish with a 13-over 50 on the backside.

Miehe qualified for the NAIA National Tournament by winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference individual title. She is the first women's golfer from Culver-Stockton to qualify for the national event.
