To receive an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, students must:

• Complete additional courses in teaching methods, family and community resources, psychological development, language development, physical development, and nutrition
• Complete a 40-hour practicum in infant/toddler education
• Complete a 40-hour practicum in pre-K/kindergarten education
• Meet all requirements for certification in elementary education, including student teaching, split with student teaching in a kindergarten setting
• Prepare a professional portfolio to document your undergraduate studies

To earn an endorsement to teach special education, students must:

• Take additional coursework in special teaching methods, sign language, psychological diagnosis, language development, cross-categorical disabilities, and fundamentals of counseling
• Complete student teaching in either elementary or secondary education, including student teaching
• Complete a 40-hour practicum or student teaching assignment in a special education setting
• Prepare a professional portfolio to document your undergraduate studies

To complete an endorsement to teach middle school, C-SC students must:

• Choose a teaching specialty for certification
• Complete certification requirements in either elementary or secondary education, including student teaching
• Complete student teaching at the fifth- or sixth-grade level or complete a practicum
• Complete two science courses with labs, remedial reading, and an appropriate math course
• Prepare a professional portfolio to document your undergraduate studies
