Experience
As part of the EXP-CSC curriculum you can participate in a variety or experiential coursework – from study abroad, to practicums, to field experiences in your field of student. As education majors, you have several important experiences in front of you.
Observing classrooms and working in the classroom begins as early as your sophomore year at Culver-Stockton. We work with surpervising teachers throughout the tri-state area to place you in classroom situations as soon as possible so that you can apply what you are learning.
Reading is the most essential building block for lifelong learning. C-SC education majors serve as after-school reading tutors for elementary school students in the area.

The student teaching experience is where you apply everything you have learned and, through interaction with your students and your teaching colleagues, acquire practical knowledge that will serve your throughout your career.
The innovative "Museums in the Classroom" program takes education majors to museums in the St. Louis area and tri-state region to learn techniques for creating in-classroom museum experiences and/or for using museums as teaching tools. Read more online in the blog about the recent St. Louis trip or the experience in the John Wood Mansion in Quincy.
Some students attend conferences with professional educators, learning from their future colleagues or making presentations. Recent conferences attended by C-SC students included the International Reading Association and the Missouri Middle School Association Conference. For details of the C-SC students’ presentation about what makes middle school students tick, see the April 3, 2008 issue of The View online at www.culver.edu/view.
