Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree
Students interested in the BFA degree as an art major usually intend to become professional artists or to enter graduate school. They pursue a more intensive and extensive set of art courses, deepening their appreciation of various art media generally and concentrating on areas that suit their personal interests. BFA art majors may choose an emphasis in studio art of graphic arts:

Emphasis in Studio Art
student drawingA studio art emphasis is recommended for students who are interested in a career as a professional artist or looking for a solid undergraduate experience that is essential for acceptance into graduate school. Professional artists create works of fine art that are found in museums, art galleries, and corporate and private art collections. Works of art are sold in artist's studios, art fairs, galleries, or by dealers/agents. Artists who like to write become art critics for newspapers and magazines or become art consultants to foundations or institutional collectors. Studio artists sometimes teach classes and conduct workshops in their studios or at community art centers.

Students must complete a minimum of 62 hours of art coursework, including 12 hours of upper division classes in two art disciplines.
