Music Degrees
To complete the BA in music, students must take 39 hours of music classes including music history, music literature, music theory, and aural skills. Students also must complete eight hours of private lesson on their major instrument or in voice and complete four credit hours of ensemble work. All music major must participate in lessons and ensemble every semester. Music majors also must pass a piano proficiency exam before graduations. Students majoring in music are expected to prepare and perform a senior recital, as well as complete repertoire and performance requirements for seven semesters. Experiential opportunities will offer field experiences to music majors. Music majors also are expected to attend other student’s repertoires, recitals and concerts.
