Class Notes


Evie Anderson ’39 has moved to an assisted living facility. She is looking forward to her 100th birthday in January 2017.


Rebecca (Mote) Frankford '53 currently resides in Monroe, Wis. in the summer and Searcy, Ark. in the winter.  She was given the honor of Minister Emeritus at First Christian Church in Searcy, Arkansas.  She is a retired clergy member.

Forest “Rod” Lowrey ’59 co-founded a private independent k-12 school in Winston-Salem area of North Carolina in 1970.  The last 8 years living in a retirement village he has written and published a senior romance novel called “The Elevated Heart”, which is available on Amazon.com and Kindle.  He is soon to publish a book of poetry/short stories/ and limericks.  Currently, Rod is working on his second novel which is completely different and to be called “The Dork of York”.  Who says you can’t “do it” in the latter days of life, i.e. 81.


Bill Heyden ’69 has two children, Sheila and William.  He is the former Dean of Students for John F. Kennedy H.S. in Chicago, Ill.  He retired in 2006 and lives in Lemont, Ill. and spends winters in New Port Richie, Fl.  He is a cancer survivor since 2007, but recently while visiting his son in Dallas, Texas became ill with acute radiation poisoning and spent seven months in Baylor Hospital in Dallas.  He is now home in Illinois looking forward to returning to Florida for the winter months.

Patricia (Farrell) Casko ’66 is a retired first grade teacher and for the last six years she has been a nanny for children in her area.  She is loving it!

Tom Cornelius ’62 met his sweetheart Ruth Cornelius ’60 at C-SC and they were married in 1959.  Ruth was a precious lady and Tom misses her dearly, but grateful to C-SC for helping him to find the love of his life.

Vern Naden ’69 has decided to leave the state of Illinois and moved into his new home in New Bern, NC in September of 2016.

Gregory Hutchins ’69 is retired and is residing in Rocky Mount, NC with is wife Carol.  He has two children: Kimberly (7/2/1976) and Mark (1/21/1980).

David Allers ’66 and wife Joyce recently moved to Dairen, Ill. after 38 years to meet some new neighbors.

Edsel Goldson ’69 retired on January 1, 2016.  Pastor Goldson served as Methodist pastor and Regional Church Administrator in the State of Washington for 36 years.  Edsel and his wife, Gertie, reside in Seattle, WA.

Dr. Dan Douglas ’66 retired in 2009 as a Professor Emeritus of Applied Linguistics from Iowa State University.  His, wife, Felicity, and I live in Ames, Iowa, and travel both in the U.S. and abroad when we can. 

Robert Adams ’66 is currently residing in El Cerrito, CA. and has two children, Cameron and Sarah.

Mary Doris Conley Law ’68 has been retired for 4 years from serving as the registrar at Saint Martin’s University for 37 years.

Karen (Black) Dugas ’69 lost her husband due to a head injury he incurred through a fall on June 17, 2016.


Diane Graham ’76 recently held an open house at the ribbon cutting of the new headquarters and laboratory for her business STRATCO with the Honorable Jim Lane, Mayor of Scottsdale.  They had over 125 people in attendance with three Culver-Stockton alumni: Marilee (McReynolds) Kay ’76, Libby (Guiterrez) Tallarico ’76, and John Tallarico ’74.  Her supplier Bert Martinez currently has a niece, Haley Barraza in attendance at C-SC. 

Ben Martin ’75 was inducted into the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri Hall of Fame at the annual conference at Tan Tar A on September 23.  Ben is currently the Executive Director of the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education.  He is also active at Culver as a member of the Fine Arts Hall of Fame, the Alumni Board, and the Friends of the Arts.

John “Jack” Golden 74 recently moved to Mission Viejo, CA.  He is the Senior Assistant County Counsel for Orange County.  He was remarried in July 2016 to Sandra Turner.

Jean (Rouhgton) Hutton ’76 is currently residing in Glenarm, Ill. and working for Illinois Policy Institute.

Kathryn Gibson ’75 works as the HR/Office Manager since June 2014 at Eriksson Technologies, Inc. (Structural Engineering Company) in Temple Terrace, Fl. 

Tim Busch ’79 has moved to Choctaw, Miss. to work at the Choctaw Tribal Schools as a Dyslexia Therapist. 

Jack Kanne ’71 continues to serve on the C-SC Board of Trustees. Jack recently moved from Palm Springs, CA. to Nashville, Tenn. in 2015.


Kim (Donithan) Larson ’82 currently resides in Prophetstown, Ill.  She is a Grantee Specialist/Consultant for STG International out of Alexandria, Virginia.

Michael Whitacre '84 recently became a Principal Consultant with Avaap, Inc. in Edison, NJ. He currently still resides in Lehigh Acres, Fl. 

Scott Rigg '82 recently started his own business Work Horse Vintage Wood in Quincy, Ill.  Scott has three children: Sheigh (28), Wilson (24), and Arianna (22).  Wilson Rigg '15 is currently coaching football at Midland Lee High School in Midland, Texas. Arianna Rigg '16 is currently pursuing nursing at Marian University. 

In February 2015, Leslie Robertson Jenkins ’87 retired from the field of adoption/social work and obtained her insurance license.  She is currently licensed in Tennessee, Illinois, & Michigan.  After a 2 and a half year long-distance relationship, Leslie & James wed in December 2015 in a private destination wedding in St. Thomas, USVI.  The former Chicagoland gal; relocated to Germantown, a suburb of Memphis, in Tennessee and is enjoying her husband, being a “bonus mom”, new friends & the weather immensely.

Kurt Sangmeister ’84 retired from the State of Illinois after over 30 years, the last 21 as Court Administrator of the 12th Judicial Circuit on May 31, 2016. He and his wife (Gina) are relocating to Venice, Florida.  Their new address is 200 San Lino Circle #233, Venice, Fl. 34292.


The Mosley family, Kirk Mosley ’99, recently added a son, Brody Allen Mosley, to the family in August of 2016.

Heather (Ellis) McNamee ’98 recently relocated to Grants, New Mexico to be the financial controller of Peabody Energy.

Elizabeth Hanneken ’96 children Noelle, Bridgette, and Ryan Hanneken are ages 12, 10, and 8 respectively.  Her husband is an engineer for a utilities company and she returned to the principal role in the Fall of 2014. They reside in Villa Ridge, MO.


Julie (Eaton) Jones '05 and her husband Matthew currently live on his family’s century old farm outside of Maywood, Mo. with her son Ryan, who is 10 years old and in 5th grade at Palmyra Middle School.  Ryan is active in the Marion County 4-H, band and junior singers club.  They have a small cattle herd, horses, and coonhounds.  Julie is employed as a Community Support Specialist with Comprehensive Health in Hannibal, Mo. and Matthew is a Parts Specialist with Sydenstrickers in Palmyra, Mo.

Robin Edman ’02 received her Master of Music Education degree form the University of Florida in August of 2016.  Currently, she is in her 15th year of teaching choir and music for the Fort Zumwalt School District.

Jason & Nicole (Niggli) ’02 Orebaugh currently reside in Yates Center, Kan. with their two children Logan (7/19/2010) and Chloe (12/14/2015).

Kyle ’08 and Morganne welcomed their son Grayson Matthew Hayward into the world on Ot. 24, 2016.  He weighed 6lbs and 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Trey ’05 & Brenna Tomlinson recently welcomed a son, Eli, into their family on August 5, 2016.

Jeff ’02 & Renee (Schroeder) ’02 Rogles welcomed son Bennett James Rogles into their family on July 28, 2016. 

Percy ’04 and Tamika Thomas welcomed girl, Cydnee Angel Thomas, into the family on July 18th, 2016.

Jackie ’02 Ginther and Jeremy Fettig ’03 recently welcomed their fourth child, Mila Jane Fettig, into the world on June 25, 2016.  Siblings Quinn, Logan, and Dylan were excited to have their sister join them.

Laurie DeLaney '01 is in the beginning of her second year as a Predoctoral Fellow in Rehabilitation and Participation Science at Washington University School of Medicine, program in occupational Therapy.  She is studying the preclinical disability in the preclinical stages of Alzheimer disease.

Holly (Reiter) ’07 and Tony ’06 Luetkenhaus are currently living in Stillwater, OK.  Holly recently started a new position as the First Year Experience Librarian at Oklahoma State University in July 2016.  Tony started a new position as Technical Director and Professor of Theater at Northern Oklahoma College. 


Wilson Rigg '15 is currently coaching football at Midland Lee High School in Midland, Texas. 

Arianna Rigg '16 is currently pursuing nursing at Marian University. 

Meghan (Townely) '13 married John Stumpf on Saturday, October 8 in Quincy, Ill. at the Unitarian Church of Quincy. They then made a huge move to Lakewood, Colorado on October 13. Meghan is currently working for the Colorado School of Mines Foundation. She is a Student Engagement Coordinator for Alumni Relations. 

Emma VanArsdale is currently living in Quincy, Ill.  She is working for Brehm Communications in Carthage, Ill. as a newspaper editor.

Jessica (Fleer) ’11 and Nathan Bringer welcomed son, Nicholas Cole Bringer, 7 lbs., 8 oz., 19 1/4 inches, into their family on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016.

April (Welker) Brewster ’10 got engaged and moved to Alabama in 2015.  She is currently a preschool teacher for the Young Three’s at Life Kids Learning Center and part time Member Services/Youth Enrichment Coordinator at YMCA of Calhoun County in Anniston, AL.  April got married to Terrel Brewster on September 3, 2016 

Brianna Marzette ’16 has been hired to be an officer with Dubuque, Iowa Police Department. 

William Lionel Flournoy III is currently residing in Atlantic Beach, Fl. as a lawyer for Heekin Law. 

Kristy (Obert) ’13 married Cory Stegeman ’13 on June 4, 2016.

Matthew McVey '14 and Kaitlin Sparrow '15 are recently engaged and are currently residing in Peoria, Ill. with their dog Jersie.  The couple plans to get married July 2017.

Monica (Wilson) ’12 and Jacob Burge gave birth to Zuko Crain Burge on July 15, 2015.  Zuko is now one year old.  

Flossie Ellyson ’14 recently got engaged in December of 2015 and accepted a job as a Consulting Analyst at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, MO.

Lauren (Dent) ’11 and Adam ’10 Klingele have a son, Chase Anthony Klingele, who was born on January 19, 2014.

Michael ’10 and Taylor Schwarzer welcomed baby boy, Tyson, on July 15th, 2016 to their family.

Ethan Bragg ’13 currently resides in Blue Springs, MO.  He is a financial aid specialist at William Jewell College. 

Jeffrey ’13 and Laney (Henry) ’14 DeGraw announce the birth of their daughter, Aryanna on April 20, 2016.  They currently reside in Bismarck, ND.

On July 16, 2016 Paul Bengel '12 married Amber Kinney in front of family and friends.
