Over the years of teaching both on the secondary and college levels, I have found that the educational system has been inundated by a host of financial rewards for such talents as athletic prowess, music instrumental ability and a plethora of intellectually outstanding aptitudes.
Not once has there been an exposure to funding for a person with a creative mind. Yes, there are many humans who have developed new ideas, invented new mechanical devices, and used their imagination to establish successful business, or even cultural experiences. But to reward the youngster who thinks with both his right brain effectively - as well as his left brain - has not appeared within the formal classroom structure to any great degree - if at all.
It is with this concern that I have approached the Culver-Stockton College leadership to propose a Scholarship for Creative Minds. This scholarship was given in 2009 to Jessica Weston. Click here to learn more about funding the student experience.
