Culver-Stockton College is fortunate to have a number of dedicated individuals and families, who, by their interest and long-range planning, have become a part of the college's ongoing life, its philosophy, and its future. A very popular way to make a significant gift is by remembering the college in your will. This legal document can specify an exact amount or a percentage of your estate that you wish to bequest to the college. You can also specify how these funds are to be used; i.e., general college endowment, establishing an endowed scholarship in your name ($25,000 minimum gift), for a specific building project on campus, or to be unrestricted, which allows the college to appropriate funds where they are most needed.
Should it be your decision to honor Culver-Stockton with a bequest, it is important that the exact wording, as it relates to the corporate name of the College, be used in the writing of a will or a codicil to an existing will. Two samples are provided. If a bequest is of a restricted nature, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you so the college can guarantee fulfillment of your future wishes.
Unrestricted Bequest
I give, devise, and bequeath to Culver-Stockton College, a Pro Forma Decree Corporation chartered by the State of Missouri in 1853, and located in Canton, Lewis County, Missouri... insert here sum of money, portion of estate, or description of property... OR: the rest and residue of my estate which shall be used for such purposes as the College may designate.
Restricted Bequest
I give, devise, and bequeath to Culver-Stockton College, a Pro Forma Decree Corporation chartered by the State of Missouri in 1853, and located in Canton, Lewis County, Missouri)... insert here sum of money, portion of estate, or description of property... OR: the rest and residue of my estate which shall be used for... insert here purposes and conditions for and under which bequest is to be used.
