I am a Senior this year and will definitely return to the Mock Trial Team at Culver. Last year I competed as an attorney for the Prosecution and gave a closing argument for my side. When I started the Trial Advocacy course I thought it would be like playing a character in a play. However, I quickly realized when we became immersed in the case that it would be a lot of work to argue our side of the case. Mock Trial is not like acting in a play, there was no script and we had to do all the work as a team.
The Trial Advocacy course helped me realize that becoming an attorney is exactly what I want to do with my life. The undergraduate experience at Culver-Stockton helps students learn what path to take and my Mock Trial experience reassured me that law school is in my future. My favorite part of the trial team was the interaction with many different students and knowing that I'll be putting the skills I learned to use later on in my legal career.

I was not sure what to think going into the course. I had heard professor Abbott was a prosecutor so I knew it was going to be very interesting.
Trial Advocacy was by far the most beneficial course I have ever taken. Not only did it help me understand the courtroom, but it also taught me discipline and organization.
I plan on going to law school after I complete my undergrad degree. This course will be incredibly helpful because it gave me a taste of what I will be learning in the future. Also, it could help me get into law school because some schools look at extra curricular things, such as mock trial.
The best part of mock trial was actually doing the trial. All of those long hours of hard work you put in pays off in the end!
My view on the course: 10/10 A+... I strongly suggest that everyone takes this course even if they do not plan on going to law school. It will help you with your other classes and will teach you organization skills and the importance of hard work. Professor Abbott makes the class interesting and fun!
