International Students

When I first arrived in the United States from The Gambia as a younger man, I was eager to get my education and to succeed in the land of opportunity. I was also nervous, a little shy, and somewhat lonely. You may feel that way yourself. I want you to know that you can find a home away from home at this college, set in a jewel of a rural setting, along the Mississippi River, in the heartland of America.
I hope you'll get to know Culver-Stockton College from this website and seriously consider choosing C-SC and Canton, Missouri, as your home in America. You will work closely with an admissions counselor from our admissions office who will be happy to answer your questions. You can also contact me at mkhoury@culver.edu. I look forward to welcoming you to campus.

I am an assistant professor for teaching medical sciences. I started my career here at Culver-Stockton College two years ago and my dream came true for becoming a professor. It is such a wonderful community and you will never feel alone for achieving your goals. The thing you receive is not only a great education here, but also a sense of peacefulness, fulfillment, and success.

Dr. Mohamed A. El-Bermawy
Associate Professor of Chemistry/Biology
From Egypt
I am originally from Egypt. I came to the U.S.A. in 1983. I received my Masters and PhD from the school of Pharmacy, University of Connecticut. I joined Culver in 1999. I have enjoyed teaching at Culver-Stockton and have enjoyed living in Canton. It is a great community. My family and I feel welcome and safe in this community.
I gave many presentations about Egypt and the Egyptian culture. Students, as well as faculty members, are always eager and excited to learn about different countries and the differences between American culture and other cultures. Teaching students about other cultures broadens their horizons and prepares the better to face the world. It also teaches them tolerance toward other cultures that they are not familiar with. Being received warmly and kindly and having the support of the Culver-Stockton College community is a great asset. |
