Nursing
Students must demonstrate competency at each level of their studies in order to advance to the next level. For example, sophomores must demonstrate competency in basic nursing care by successfully completing their level 200 course and passing the nationally standardized test. Juniors much demonstrate competency by providing safe, effective nursing care, successfully completed 300-level courses, and passing the nationally standardized test. Graduating students demonstrate competency by passing a simulated National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) computer exam prior to writing the state licensure examination. BRCN has a history of exceptional state NCLEX pass rates. The graduates of 2007 had a NCLEX pass rate of 90%. The graduates of May 2008 had a NCLEX pass rate of 96%, and the December 2008 graduates had a NCLEX pass rate of 100%.
