C-SC Jazz Ensemble to Present 'Jazz Zoo' Concert

A ‘stampede’ of jazz will be coming out of Culver-Stockton College as the C-SC Jazz Ensemble presents its annual Jazz Concert. The concert, titled “Jazz Zoo,” will be held Friday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Alexander Campbell Auditorium, on campus in Canton, Mo. The event is free and open to the public.

The ensemble will play a variety of pieces with an animal theme. Selections will include Magic Flea, by Sammy Nestico, Socrates the Amazing Mississippi Map Turtle, by Ryan Fraley, and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, by Manning Sherwin. The group will also perform Tiger of San Pedro, by John LaBarbera, Chickenscratch, by Les Hooper, Pig Lickin’ Blues, by Jeff Jarvis, and On Green Dophin Street, by Bronislau Kaper.

The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Thomas C. Polett, associate professor of music. Members are chosen through audition from the membership of the Symphonic Band.
