Honors Art Show showcases C-SC students

CANTON, Mo. -- The Canton Area Arts Council welcomes seven Culver-Stockton College senior arts majors for the Annual C-SC Honors Art Show opening at the Canton Area Arts Council Gallery (309 Lewis Street) with a public reception at 7 p.m. Friday, October 5.
Each October, C-SC faculty give selected students the opportunity to design and carry out a gallery show off campus as part of their entry into the professional world. Canton Area Arts Council is proud to partner in this process. Media shown in the honor show will include oil painting, digital and film photography, graphic design, stoneware, raku and porcelain vessels, and sculpture.
Honor show artists for 2007 come from both Missouri and Illinois. Four are preparing for careers in studio or graphic art, while three will be art educators after graduation. Artists from Quincy, Illinois are Kyle Otten and Sarah Strong. Abbey Eicken comes from Camp Point, Illinois. Missouri artists are Ray Johnson from Ewing, Myles Keough from Brentwood, Joshua McCurdy from Vandalia, and Stephanie Reichert from Waynesville. Eicken, Otten, Reichert, and Strong will graduate with the BFA in Art with an emphasis in graphic design, leading toward studio careers and graduate school. Johnson, Keough, and McCurdy will certify to teach art in all levels from kindergarten through high school.
The C-SC Honors Art Show will be open to the public during the weekend. Gallery hours through October 27
are Saturdays 10 – 2, Sundays 1 – 3. Canton Area Arts Council is associated with the Missouri Arts Council. The CAAC Gallery is adjacent to and in a space provided by the Canton State Bank.
