Miss Missouri coming to Canton

Culver-Stockton College will host a reception for Miss Missouri 2007 Lindsay Casmaer on Monday, October 15, at 4 p.m. in the home of William and Lynn Fox. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.
Casmaer is scheduled to speak in Canton at the Internet Safety Night and present on "Right Decisions, Right Now," an anti-smoking campaign, for the Canton R-V School District.
“Because Canton and Culver-Stockton share the common goal of producing well-educated citizens, the presence in our community of Lindsay Casmaer, who was a university student, symbolizes our high resolve to inspire young people in the town and on the Hill,” said William L. Fox, president of the college. “She brings to us all the example of purpose and ambition in making a difference in the world. She is one of us.”
Casmaer, 24, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania earned a degree in neurobiology and behavior and is currently a researcher at Washington University. A resident of Hazelwood, Mo., Casmaer was the 2006 Miss River City, winning with her zeal on encouraging students of all ages to incorporate volunteerism into their lives. Her platform, “A Life of Volunteerism Beginning with Today’s Youth,” has focused her life towards influencing many students to volunteer in their communities. Casmaer is currently involved with the Alzheimer’s Association in St. Louis, while she continues to speak at various venues in Missouri. “We are lucky to have a philanthropist with such a worthy cause visit Culver Stockton College,” added Fox.
