Mathieson awarded Certified Church Musician

Dr. Carol Fisher Mathieson has been granted the status of CCM (Certified Church Musician) within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) renewed through December 31, 2011.
She teaches classes in church music and hymnology at Culver-Stockton College where she serves on the Ministry Council, an advisory board to the college chaplain.
“Carol’s dedication to the community and the college has been exemplary over the years. This certification allows her the recognition and status she deserves for her years of service to the community,” added R. Joseph Dieker, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college.
The recertification took a year of completion requiring a considerable expenditure of time and effort in reading, writing, and studying. Mathieson had to show evidence of continuing work in church music, course work, and providing presentations.
Mathieson is a professor of music at Culver-Stockton College. Reflecting the college’s commitment to service in the greater community, she is also minister of music at the Quincy Unitarian Church in Quincy, Ill.
