The weekend kicks off Friday night with a Jazz Ensemble Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium in the Performing Arts Center. The “Jazz Smorgasboard” will include such selections as “Salt Peanuts” by Dizzy Gillespie, “Watermelon Man” by Herbie Hancock, “My Dog, He Don’t Like Tuna” by Allen Carter, “No Clam Zone” by Greg Yasinitsky and “Orange Colored Sky” made famous by Nat King Cole. The ensemble is under the direction of Tom Polett, associate professor of music. The concert is free and open to the public. On Saturday, a parents’ reception from 11 a.m. to noon in Meaders Lounge and a brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. precede the Wildcats football game against the Missouri Valley Vikings. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. A family weekend dinner buffet is available before the 7 p.m. Wildcats basketball game against the Owls of William Woods University. Performances of “Moon Over Buffalo,” Culver-Stockton’s annual guest artist production, are scheduled Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The comedy features Bob Costanzo, who has appeared in hundreds of movies and TV shows. His most recent performances include roles on Boston Legal, Gone, The Sopranos, Days of Our Lives, Mafiosa, CSI New York, and Will and Grace. He has roles in two movies still to be released, West of Brooklyn and The Big Shot-Caller. Adult tickets are $8; students, $6. Call 573-288-6346 for reservations. Family Weekend highlights also include at hog roast tailgating party from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Culver-Stockton student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and an open house at Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing from to 10 a.m. Saturday for nursing students and their families.
