Susan Johnston to display watercolors at Mabee Art Gallery

Susan Swager Johnston, wife of the president of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, will present her personal works in the Mabee Art Gallery on the campus of Culver-Stockton College.

The show will start with a reception and gallery talk on Thursday, November 15, from 7-8:30 pm, with the gallery talk at 7:30 pm. The exhibit will run through Wednesday, December 12. The event is free and open to the public.

Johnston is an acclaimed watercolor artist from West Virginia. Before moving to Mount Pleasant, she enjoyed working in the public schools and advocating business opportunities for artists. Her works have been seen in private and public collections in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. She has also spent time painting abroad in England, France, and Switzerland. Since arriving at Iowa Wesleyan College, she has volunteered her services promoting the art collections of the college.

The gallery talk is offered as part of Culver-Stockton's Academic and Cultural Events (ACE) program.

Mabee Art Gallery is located in Culver-Stockton’s Herrick Foundation Center and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Joe Jorgensen, gallery director, at 573 288-6368.
