Tuesday, November 06, 2007

Culver Stockton students will travel to Chicago, Ill., for the annual band tour this week. There are 41 C-SC students participating in the tour during which they will stop at churches and schools to perform six concerts. The tour runs from Wednesday, November 7, to Saturday, November 10.

“The band tour is an outreach to the surrounding area through which we represent Culver-Stockton and the music department at different schools and churches,” said Thomas C. Polett, associate professor of music and chairperson of the fine arts division.

The group will leave campus Wednesday afternoon and travel to Keokuk, Iowa, for its first performance. Then they will perform at Moline First Christian Church in Moline, Ill., and on Thursday will perform at United High School in Monmouth, Ill., Bushnell High School in Bushnell, Ill., and Peoria First Christian Church in Peoria, Ill. On Friday, the group will make its last performance at Midland High School in Varna, Ill. The band will immediately head to Chicago where they will attend the DePaul University Wind Ensemble Concert at 8 p.m.

The C-SC Wind Ensemble is directed by Dr. Thomas Herb, and the Jazz Ensemble is directed by Polett.
