Wednesday, November 21, 2007
Catch the holiday spirit during the annual Culver-Stockton Christmas Choral Concert, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 9, in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium at the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center. Several small groups will be performing festive brass selections in the lobby before the concert, which is free and open to the public.
The Collegiate Choir and Concert Choir will perform several selections including: “Gaudete,” by Stephen Sametz; “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” by Mark Hayes; “O Magnum Mysterium,” by Morten Lauridsen; and “Personet Hodie,” by Lara Hoggard. The centerpiece of the performance will be “Gloria,” by John Rutter.
The Culver-Stockton Collegiate Choir performs a variety of pieces throughout the year for selected college functions. Membership is available to any student, faculty, or staff member that shows sufficient preparation and vocal ability.
The Concert Choir is comprised of a select group of students from many fields of study and is selected through auditions. The ensemble performs a diverse repertoire from Renaissance through the 20th century. The choir performs at several events throughout the year and tours during the spring semester.
Dr. Kevin Baker directs both ensembles. Baker is C-SC associate professor of music and director of choral activities.
