Canton to host 3rd annual Hometown Holiday Celebration

The Hometown Holiday Celebration will take place on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9. The public is invited to take part in the fun, which includes activities for all ages.
Events begin on Saturday afternoon in downtown Canton, Mo. The public is invited to see Santa and his elves at the Canton Public Library, 403 Lewis Street, from 3 to 5 p.m. Children will be offered rides on a fire truck, which will take Santa and the elves to Central Park. Dr. Sue Abegglen, Culver-Stockton professor of education, will be at the library from 3-4 p.m. telling folktales. Culver-Stockton students will offer wreaths for purchase through a silent auction near the library. Proceeds benefit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC). The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Central Park, 5th and Lewis Streets.
Saturday night, a soup supper will be served from 4-7 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 601 Washington.
The Historical Society Home Tours are scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets may be purchased for $5 at the Canton Arts Council in the Holiday Mall, 309 Lewis Street, and the Saturday Store, corner of 4th and Lewis in Canton. The tour includes the homes of Beth and Jeremy Weaver, 904 White St.; Bob and Sonia Rea, 801 White St.; Paul Smith, the Methodist Parsonage, 815 College St.; Tammy and Jim Ellison, 801 Washington St.; and The Lewis Street Playhouse, 405 Lewis St.
The Culver-Stockton Christmas Choral Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium at the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.
