Jazz singer and poetry ensemble to perform at Culver-Stockton
Monday, February 18, 2008
The Angela Hagenbach Jazz and Poetry Ensemble will perform in concert on the Culver-Stockton campus at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the Merillat Recital Hall in the Performing Arts Center. The performance is free and open to the public.
Hagenbach is one of the top jazz singers based in Kansas City, Mo. She has performed at the Kennedy Center and festivals around the world and has released two recordings on the Amazon label. Raised in a musical family where her father was a saxophonist and her mother a pianist, Hagenbach played the trombone for seven years, worked as a model, played keyboards, and sang in a top 40 band. She worked as a solo performer at Kansas City’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel for four years and sings everything from swinging, straight-ahead jazz and blues to sensual and rhythmic Latin Jazz.
The performance is offered as part of the college’s Academic and Cultural Events (ACE) program. Funding assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
