The Mississippi Valley Saxophone Quintet to perform at C-SC

CANTON, Mo. -- The Mississippi Valley Saxophone Quintet will perform musical selections by local saxophonists on Wednesday, March 19, 7:30 p.m. in the Merillat Recital Hall, located in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center at Culver-Stockton College.

The Quintet includes Bob Sibbing, soprano saxophone; Les Fonza, tenor saxophone; Bill DeMont, baritone saxophone; Amy Greenbank, alto saxophone; and Thomas Herb, alto saxophone and assistant professor of music and director of the Wind Ensemble.

The Quintet’s selections include Mozart String Quintet K.593 by Mozart, Mazurka Op. 56 by Chopin; March from the Love of Three Oranges by Sergei Prokofiev; Slavic Dance by Antonín Dvořák; Pavane by Gabriel Fauré; Dancing Doll by Eduard Poldini; Dance of the Little Swans by P.I. Tchaikovsky; Suite #1 by Schmidt; and Swing Medley #2 by group member Bob Sibbing.

“In 2005, The Mississippi Valley Saxophone Quintet made their debut at C-SC. They have also performed at other colleges, been the guest group for a district band festival, and played several times on the Quincy Sunday Music Series,” said Herb.
