CANTON, Mo. -- Two Culver-Stockton College students have been nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Auditions at Region V of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) 41 in January 2009. They were selected based on their performance in C-SC’s most recent production, Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.
Heather Meyer, a senior theatre major from Muscatine, Iowa, has been nominated for her performance as Mona. This is Meyer’s third nomination for the KCACTF. Nicole Herrington, a junior history major from Quincy, Ill., has been nominated for her role as Sissy (Now). This is Herrington’s KCACTF first nomination.
“The KCACTF nomination represents a singular achievement by a student actor at Culver-Stockton College,” said Jeffery Kellogg, senior lecturer in theatre. “It is always gratifying when your students are recognized for work they have done under your direction, but it was especially gratifying that the KCACTF respondent mentioned so many individuals from the cast while in the process selecting Nicole and Heather. Both of these young women worked hard, delivered outstanding performances, and are very deserving of the nominations.”
The KCACTF 41 Region V Festival will be held on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.
