C-SC annual Pops Concert set for April 18

CANTON, Mo. -- Culver-Stockton College will present its annual spring Pops Concert with the Collegiate Choir, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Alexander Campbell Auditorium, located in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The Collegiate Choir will perform selections that cover assorted styles of vocal music. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Kevin Baker, associate professor of vocal music. Membership is available to any student who shows sufficient preparation and vocal ability.

The Symphonic Band will perform a variety of selections including Midway March by John Williams. The ensemble includes more than 70 musicians and is open to all students who show sufficient preparation and ability in playing a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Dr. Thomas Herb, assistant professor of woodwinds and music education, will direct the ensemble.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform jazz styles from the past 80 years. The performance will feature the talents of Culver-Stockton seniors, including a vocal jazz selection. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Thomas C. Polett, associate professor of music and chairperson of the fine arts division.
