“We got to play, despite the weather,” said Christian Guenther, Culver-Stockton head football coach, when speaking of the eighth annual Wildcat Football Golf Scramble held Friday, July 25, at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal, Mo.

A rain delay postponed the start time, and water on the course allowed only the front nine holes to be played. But despite the late start and soggy conditions, the scramble was a success.

“We were very pleased with the outcome,” said Rod Walton, Culver-Stockton athletic director. “Everyone had a great time and truly appreciated the event.”

First place honors went to the team of Denny Smith ’61, Robert Brown, Steve Heimberger, and Bob Beslick. The longest drive competition went to Trey Tomlinson ’05.

“We always look forward to this event as a way to bring former players, other alumni, and various Wildcat supporters together to raise a little money for the program, and kick-start the year,” added Guenther. “Thank you to everyone who braved the conditions and came out to support Culver-Stockton football.”
