C-SC to host campus Visit Days this Fall
Thursday, October 09, 2008

CANTON, Mo. – On Saturday, October 18, and Saturday, November 15, Culver-Stockton College will welcome prospective students and families to experience the campus atmosphere, take a tour, meet faculty, and much more during Fall Visit Days.

“The Visit Day is an important element for students in making the right choice for their college career and an important tool for Culver-Stockton in preparing our students to succeed on campus,” said Melik Peter Khoury, vice president for enrollment management and college marketing. “Through the Visit Day introduction, the enhanced summer Registration and Orientation Day, Wildcat Welcome Weekend and our expanded programs for first-year students, Culver-Stockton has integrated a focus on student success throughout the recruitment process.”

Each Fall Visit Day includes an introduction to the new Culver-Stockton curriculum, EXP@CSC, which changes the academic calendar and combines traditional educational experiences with opportunities for students to learn through exploring, doing, practicing and gaining real-world, hands-on experience. Each Visit Day will include an EXP@CSC demonstration class for prospective students and an informational session for parents about the new curriculum and the impact it can have on students.

The schedule includes an academic/activity fair at which students and parents can meet Culver-Stockton faculty, current students, activity directors and coaches. Also included during the day’s events are campus tours, financial aid information sessions, an opportunity for students to meet with their admissions counselors, and lunch in the C-SC dining hall.

“Visit days serve as a portal for students to view the C-SC campus and gain insight into what the college is all about,” said Jim Lynes, C-SC director of admissions.”Visit Days are vital for high school students on their college search. We make sure they not only get an overview of the curriculum, but that they get to hear about the college from current students during a panel discussion and then ask questions about the curriculum, college life, and the C-SC experience.”

An additional Visit Day is planned for December for students interested in Fine Arts, which includes audition opportunities. There also will be a Visit Day in Spring 2009. Students also can schedule individual visits to campus.
