A native of Yugoslavia, Jankovic holds a degree in classical guitar from the Music Academy in Belgrade and a master’s degree from the Indiana University School of Music. He currently serves on the faculty at the Indiana University (Jacobs) School of Music. Since the beginning of his professional career in 1985, Jankovic has won acclaim throughout the United States and abroad, winning numerous international awards, including first prize at the First Annual Competition in Performance of Hispano-American Music, Bloomington, Ind.; a bronze medal at the H.R.H. Princess Cristina 13th International Guitar Competition, Madrid, Spain; and a bronze medal at the M.M. Ponce International Guitar Competition, Mexico City, Mexico. Translating melodies into emotion, Jankovic entertains audiences around the world, performing nearly 50 concerts a season, offering clinics and master classes, and judging guitar competitions. His musical program at Culver-Stockton will contain a variety of classical pieces from 19th century to present day. The Culver-Stockton performance is offered as part of the college’s Academic and Cultural Events program.
