Reading specialist to speak at C-SC on November 4

CANTON, Mo. – Teaching comprehension skills through newspapers will be the focus of a presentation on November 4 on the Culver-Stockton College campus.
Tamara Rhomberg, K-5 reading intervention coordinator for the Rockwood School District, Eureka, Mo., will describe how to successfully incorporate how reading of newspapers into both elementary and secondary reading programs to strengthen students’ comprehension skills. Her reading program at Rockwood has earned statewide and national recognition for its success in helping struggling readers.
Sponsored by Culver-Stockton and the Mark Twain Reading Council, Rhomberg will speak at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, in Room 308 of Henderson Hall on the C-SC campus. Her Hannibal presentation is at 7 p.m. Monday, November 3, at Veterans Elementary School.
Rhomberg serves on the board of the Missouri State Council of the International Reading Association.
The event is free and open to the public.
