C-SC to host visit day on November 15
Tuesday, November 04, 2008

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College will host a visit day for high school students and those interested in transferring to C-SC on Saturday, November 15, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.

Registration will be held from 8:30 to 9 a.m. with Melik Peter Khoury, vice president for enrollment management and college marketing, giving the welcome and overview at 9 a.m. The overview will be followed by a performance by the C-SC Chamber Choir. At 9:30 a.m., students and parents will split and students will attend a “Meet your Counselor” session and while parents attend a “Financial Aid 101” session. An academic/ activity fair will be held in the Merillat Chapel from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. At the fair students and parents can meet Culver-Stockton faculty, current students, activity directors and coaches.

Following campus tours at 10:45 a.m., students and parents will participate in a demonstration class based on Culver-Stockton’s EXP@CSC curriculum. The demonstration will introduce the EXP@CSC curriculum, which combines the liberal arts foundation with experiential opportunities.

“Our EXP@CSC curriculum changes the academic calendar, creating times when students concentrate on just one class. Even more importantly, it changes the way classes are taught. Experience-based learning is built into the classroom, and faculty also takes students beyond the classroom to extend their understanding of the subject matter,” said Khoury.

“The only way to see the difference EXP@CSC makes is to experience it. These demonstration classes give students a taste of what they can get here.”

The visit day concludes with lunch 12:30 to 1 p.m. For more information, call 800-537-1883 or e-mail admissions@culver.edu. A registration form is available online.
