Culver-Stockton to host St. Louis event for prospective students
Thursday, January 08, 2009

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College will bring its new curriculum, EXP@CSC, to St. Louis this month to be sampled by prospective students and their parents during the Culver-Stockton Connection from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at the Sheraton Westport Plaza Hotel.

EXP@CSC combines a liberal arts tradition with experience-based classes and a unique academic calendar – one of only two 12/3 programs in the nation. The 12/3 calendar divides the 15-week semester into a 12-week long term, during which students enroll in several concurrent classes similar to most college campuses, and a 3-week short term during which most students take only one course. The intense focus of the 3-week term allows courses to incorporate travel – domestically or abroad – internships, corporate experiences, clinical research, and other creative academic techniques. As part of EXP@CSC, very student in every major gains real world experience in their field before graduating from C-SC.

The January 31 Culver-Stockton Connection will include EXP@CSC demo classes to allow prospective students and their parents to better understand how the new curriculum has enhanced the educational experience at C-SC, according to Melik Peter Khoury, vice president for enrollment management and college marketing.

“Teaching a course in three weeks and intensifying opportunities for students to gain experience in the real world has revolutionized how C-SC courses are taught, both inside and outside the classroom,” Khoury said. “Parents and students who have attended the EXP@CSC demonstration courses tell us they can immediately feel the difference.”

The January 31 event also includes opportunities for students to learn about student life on the Culver-Stockton campus and meet with faculty members and admissions counselors.

St. Louis area students who attend the event will be eligible for C-SC scholarships created exclusively for attendees.
