Lincoln expert to speak at Culver-Stockton April 28

CANTON, Mo. – Lincoln expert, Ronald C. White, Jr., will speak on “Abraham Lincoln: Wisdom for Today” at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28 in Merillat Recital Hall on the Culver-Stockton College Campus.

White’s just-published book, A. Lincoln: A Biography, was the History Book Club main selection in January. He has written seven other books, including Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural, which was a Washington Post and San Francisco Chronicle bestseller as well as a New York Times “Notable Book of the Year;” and The Eloquent President: A Portrait of Lincoln through His Words, which was a Los Angeles Times bestseller and a selection of both the Book-of-the-Month Club and the History Book Club.

White has lectured nationwide about President Lincoln, including appearances at the White House, the Library of Congress, at Gettysburg during the Lincoln Forum, and at the dedication of a statue of Lincoln and his son, Tad, in Richmond, Va.

White is a Fellow at the Huntington Library in San Marino, Ca., professor of American religious history emeritus at San Francisco Theological Seminary, and a visiting professor of history at the University of California Los Angeles.

A native of Minneapolis, Minn., White grew up in California where he received a bachelor’s degree from UCLA. He earned his masters in divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary and his doctorate from Princeton University. He also studied at Lincoln Theological College in England.

White’s presentation on President Lincoln is free and open to the public.
