C-SC is home to seven national fraternities and sororities: Alpha Tau Omega, Chi Omega, Delta Upsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma, and Tau Kappa Epsilon. This is the first year that each chapter will by vying for a win on their own. In years past, there have been pairs consisting of a fraternity and a sorority attempting to accumulate the most points over the course of the week. This year’s theme is “the Seven Wonders of the Hill” to represent the seven chapters at C-SC. The slogan revolves around what Greeks learned at the IMPACT leadership institute in January: “7 Chapters, 7 Rituals, 1 Goal—Live the Ritual.” Chapters have been working harder than ever to emphasize their rituals and fraternal values in their daily lives since taking part in the institute. “The week is already turning out to be one of the most eventful and exciting Greek Weeks that Culver-Stockton has ever seen,” says Greek Week 2010 co-chair Kortney Freeman, sophomore nursing major from Carthage, Ill. “There are events being planned over the course of the week that will not only encourage unity between the chapters, but will also go toward helping the community.” One of the most anticipated events of the week is a Walk for Haiti, taking place Friday, March 26. Each participant will have at least one sponsor to help them raise money to send to a disaster relief fund for Haiti through the Disciples of Christ ministry – Week of Compassion. The event requires that at least one member of each Greek chapter be on the Culver-Stockton track walking at all times. The walk begins at noon and ends at midnight. Anyone interested in sponsoring a participant may contact the C-SC Greek Life Office at 573-288-6509. Following the new Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council structure creation, a new Greek Week Steering Committee was established. There are two co-chairs of the committee: Kortney Freeman and Adam Lee, junior athletic training major from Pittsfield, Ill. The other committee members include Corey Meyer, sophomore religion and philosophy major from Kansas City, Mo., and Shawna Kreigshauser, sophomore biology major from Lewistown, Mo., on the community service and philanthropy committee; Kevin Kingsland, senior business administration major from Troy, Mo., and Lauren Eloff, junior athletic training major from Saint Charles, Mo., on the unity and closing banquet committee; Jordan Cannon, junior religion and philosophy major from Kansas City, Mo., and Corey Schmaltz, junior education major from Saint Charles, Mo., on the entertainment committee; Ashley Woodcock, junior criminal justice/psychology major from Independence, Mo., and Adam Curran, junior sports management major from Saint Louis, Mo., on the rules and games committee; and Samantha Kheim, junior arts management major from Saint Charles, Mo., and Bailey Lewallen, freshman art major from Bolivar, Mo., on the public relations and marketing committee. The advisor to the committee is Culver-Stockton director of Greek life and leadership development, Bob Dudolski.
