Scholarship donors meet student recipients for lunch
Monday, April 12, 2010

CANTON, Mo. - Culver-Stockton College hosted its annual scholarship luncheon recently to honor both scholarship students and the donors who have made these annual and endowed scholarships possible.

The luncheon is held each year to bring the students and donors together and to express the college’s appreciation for the generosity of these donors.

According to Eric Barkley, director of advancement and alumni programs at Culver-Stockton College, it means a great deal to donors to get to know the students they are assisting, making their support more personal.

"This is an event we look forward to each spring," said Barkley. "It is important that our students have the chance to personally meet the donors and thank them for their scholarship support and for the college to recognize and extend its appreciation to these important benefactors. We are proud of our students and extremely grateful for such generous alumni and friends. This special occasion allows us to bring them together and celebrate the educational opportunities Culver-Stockton provides."

“I’m glad I was able to attend this luncheon,” said Anna Grgurich, sophomore communication major from Novinger, Mo., “It’s really a neat opportunity to be able to meet the people who allow us to further our education.”

The event not only offered donors and students a chance to interact, but also gave the students a chance to network, make connections, and see how Culver-Stockton has played an important role in the lives of these dedicated alumni.
